Welcome to the Schampavie-website.
The Schampavie Trekkersgroep
is a Flemish non-profit hiking association.
Although
Belgium is one of the most densely populated countries in Europe, there are
plenty of nice regions to be discovered on foot or by bicycle.

Even only a few
kilometres from towns like Brussels, the landscape is worth more than one
visit. In the Ardennes we find woods, hills and valleys with charming,
meandering rivers. Elsewhere we stroll along quiet country-roads that
interconnect remote villages. We use topographic maps and deliberately look
for, and still find, small paths that wind through fields and meadows.
Our device: 'Rather mud than concrete'
At least 3 times a month, Schampavie organises one-day and or a weekend strolls.
Schampavie is a non-profit organisation; volunteers do all the work. On day tours we start
in the morning and finish in the evening. On weekend events we carry whatever
we need in a rucksack. We stay overnight in youth hostels, bunk-houses, gîtes
d'étapes or other low cost group accommodations. During prolonged weekends we
often travel, up to 500 kilometres distance, to 'green' regions in France,
Germany, Luxemburg, England, or the Netherlands.
Typically, 15 to 35 people, from everywhere in Flanders, meet for a walk of about 20 to 28
kilometres a day or a cycling-tour of 60 to 100 kilometres a day. We try to
make maximum use of public transport, train and bus. It is, we try to select
departure and arrival locations, such that we do not always need to close a
loop.
Although our native language is Flemish (also during the walks/tours),
our website is worth your visit.
Enjoy surfing
our web! You'll find hundreds of photographs in our
